WhatsApp has made the voice message preview feature available to all users.
WhatsApp on Tuesday announced the ability to allow you to preview your voice messages before sending them to your contacts. The update will surely help you to hear your voice message and see if the audio is good enough to share in the instant messaging app. If it is not, you can ignore your voice message and re-record it for sharing. WhatsApp’s voice message preview feature works with both individual and group chats. Also, it has been released for Android and iOS as well as for all platforms including web and desktop.
To use the voice message preview feature on your mobile device, you have to touch the microphone button in the WhatsApp chat and slide it up to lock the hands-free recording. This brings you to the interface where you can see the stop button and the trash can. Press the stop button and then the play button before sharing your voice message with the recipient. WhatsApp allows you to move to a specific part of the audio by tapping on the Seek bar.
If you do not find the appropriate message to send, you can delete it by tapping on the trash can. You can send alternately by pressing the send button.
Adding preview feature is very useful if you want to send voice messages rather than their text version on WhatsApp. This allows you to review your voice message draft before sending it to your contacts. However, if you do not touch the microphone button in the app and slide it up to lock the recording function, you may accidentally send random voice messages.
The preview feature for WhatsApp has been confirmed to be available to all users. We can use it in the list of Android and iOS devices as well as in the latest version of the app on the web.
In May, WhatsApp was spotted developing a preview feature for voice messages. WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo reported that it initially appeared with dedicated review and cancellation buttons. However, the meta-owned company prefers to use traditional play and trash can buttons rather than any text instructions.
Although the latest update allows users to preview voice messages before sending them to their contacts, it is important to note that it does not allow voice message recordings to be paused. This means you can not pause the audio recording of your message and restart it after a while.
However, WhatsApp seems to have that function even at work. WABetaInfo recognized the Pause voice message option in October. However, it is not yet available to end users.
Over the past few months, WhatsApp has shown an active interest in improving the voice messaging experience on its platform. The app recently introduced playback speeds and waveforms for voice messages. It also recognizes testing features, including the Global Voice Message Player and the transcription of voice messages.
